# SIMPLE BEETLE ROBOT 2

how to make a very simple robot

Step 1Get all the materials needed!

ok so get all these.i got them mostly from broken toys,i'm sure you can find them at radioshack.

- a AA battery holder -> holding the batteries
- some solder wire -> soldering
- some wires -> connecting motor to switch,to batteries
- 2 AA batteries -> powering the motor
- 2 1.5V motors (preferably identical) -> making the robot move
- a slide switch -> ON,OFF
- 2 SPDT (Single Pole Double Throw) switches -> used for antenna
- 1-2 paperclips -> glue on the antennae so it is longer
- some glue sticks -> use with the hot glue gun

Step 2Get all the tools needed!

i borrowed all the tools from my father,once again,they should be available at radioshack

- wire cutter and stripper ->cut wires and strip them
- pliers ->shape the antennas
- hot glue gun -> glue the switch and the SPDT switches on the battery holder
- a soldering iron -> solder and connect wires together
- a multimeter -> check the battery

Step 3So,let's get started!

if it's on <<bad>> change it (in my case,regharge it)

solder the wires to the AA battery holder - i made the wires extra long on the blue battery holder so i don't mess it up,=)

don't forget the 3th connection!!!

it's the wire that connects the 2 batteries together

glue it with the hot glue gun in front of the holder try to do it as perfect as possible

I used the wire cutter/stripper

you will now have 2 small lines...

glue the 2 metal things on the top of the SDPT switches

glue the motors at an angle of 40 degrees.

i got these from a kinder toy,i honestly don't know where to buy some.sorry

glue it to the back of the AA battery holder.glue it a little lower so the holder doesn't touch the ground.if it does it will not go straight and will go slower

Step 15How does it work?

how does it work?
when the robot hits a wall,it triggers the L or R switch which maked the opposite motor reverse for a couple of seconds.this makes it avoid obstacles

# DIFFERENT TRANSFORMERS


1. Star - Star YyO or Yy6
2. Delta - Delta DdO or Dd6
3. Star - Delta Yd
Delta - Star Dy
4. Star - Zigzag Yz
5. Delta - Zigzag Dz

Star-Star (Yy0 or Yy6)
Most economical connection in HV power system to interconnect two delta system and to provide neutral for grounding both of them.
Tertiary winding stabilises the neutral conditions.
In star connected transformers, load can be connected between line and neutral, only if
(a) the source side transformers is delta connected or
(b) the source side is star connected with neutral connected back to the source neutral.
       











Delta - Delta (Dd 0 or Dd 6)
This is an economical connection for large low voltage transformers.
Large unbalance of load can be met without difficulty.
Third harmonics are damped out as the windings are closed mesh.
But the absence of a star point is dis-advantageous in some cases.


Delta - Star (Dy or Yd)
Common for distribution transformers.
Star point facilitates mixed loading of three phase and single phase consumer connections.
The delta winding carry third harmonics and stabilises star point potential.
Delta-Star connections is used for step-up generating stations.
If HV winding is star connected there will be saving in cost of insulation.
But delta connected HV winding is common in distribution network, for feeding motors and lighting loads from LV side.


Star-Zig-zag or Delta-Zig-zag (Yz or Dz)
These connections are employed where delta connections are weak. Interconnection of phases in zigzag winding effects a reduction of third harmonic voltages and at the same time permits unbalanced loading.
This connection may be used with either delta connected or star connected winding either for step-up or step-down transformers. In either case, the zigzag winding produces the same angular displacement as a delta winding, and at the same time provides a neutral for earthing purposes.
The amount of copper required from a zigzag winding in 15% more than a corresponding star or delta winding. This is extensively used for earthing transformer.

# SIMPLE BEETLE ROBOT 1

The following article will show you how to build a simple robot, called "The Beetle Robot", 
This is the Beetle Robot v. 3 you are going to build:

Before starting, I suggest you to read the complete tutorials. This will greatly lower the chances of you making a mistake.



Tools Needed:

  • soldering iron 
  • electronic solder
  • diagonal cutter
  • Mini glue gun
Components for the robot
  • 2x - small 1.5 Volts motors
  • 2x - small paperclips
  • 2x - big paperclips
  • 2x - batteries AAA or AA
  • 1x - battery holder AAA or AA
  • 1x - 2 cm of heat shrink
  • 1x - wooden pearl (for the caster)
  • 1x - meter of electric wire
  • 2x - Sub-mini lever SPDT switches

Most of the components can be bought for much cheaper at , or similar. At  you can find the dual AA battery holder and the Mabuchi motor. You can find these components at any good electronic store.

Here is all the parts for the construction the beetle robot.

1. Cut the electric wire in pieces of 6 cm each, 13 times.

Strip 1 cm at each end.

2. Regroup all the components.

3. Solder each wire to each components except the two batteries.

4. Take the battery holder and make a connection to the connection.

This will give a third connection.See picture below.

5. Turn the battery holder up side down so the batteries point to the ground. Glue the two switches on the battery holder in a V form.

6. Glue the motor beside each switch so that the shaft touches the ground

7. Take the big paperclip and make the caster like the picture below.

You can make a nice looking caster or a normal one

9. Take the small paper clip and bend them to make antenna.

Glue them to the switches and don’t put to much glue.

Image

Add 1 cm of heat shrink to the shaft of each motor.

10. Add the batteries in the battery holder and put it on a flat surface to see your creation take life. Congratulation!
